I am looking at purchasing a britax convertible car seat. amazon is currently running $110 off older models. i 'm on the fence if i should buy an 'older ' model or shell out the money for the newest model. i know safety is important, but have they really changed that much in a year? tell me what you think :) (Read answers)

Britax marathon rear facing with versa-tether, captain 's chair 2nd row. when installed with lower anchors it appears that the corners of the seat base are resting on the latches. not near the buttons but still, is this ok? is there another way to install with the lower anchors or should i switch to seatbelt install? Question For Those Who Own A Britax Convertable Car Seat?
I just bought a britax marathon, and i 'm confused on how to use the versa-tether. i do not have latch in my car, but i was told that the versa-tether can be used either way. i am installing it rear facing, with the vehicle seat belt and the tether. what do i loop the connector strap onto? i want to attach it to the groud, not the v shape above the car seat. is anyone familiar with how to do this? please help me! :)capeko71 - wow thank you so much, you knew exactly what i was talking about! great information! Britax Marathon Question...?
We have two britax marathons, one for each car... and i have a problem that no one else has ever commented on. every reviewer raves on and on about the wonderfulness of the car seat. we definitely love the seat... it is comfy, it is dependable, easy to install, stylish... etc. but i don 't seem to understand the buckle that comes up between baby 's legs. most car seat buckles in this area have a little bit of strap in between the bottom of the seat (where baby 's rear-end is...) and where the harness actually snaps into it. when i go to buckle my daughter in, i have to snap the harness pieces in way down into her crotch area (sorry.. no better way to explain) and it seems way too tight and uncomfy in between her legs. has anyone else experienced this? how can the carseat possibly accommodate a 4 year old...? it squishes my 6 month old 's little legs... i know the straps are supposed to be tight but it is a tad ridiculous. i can 't seem to find a way to lengthen it... and i checked both seats and some displays seat in stores and they are all the same way. am i doing something wrong...? quite confused....okay i appreciate the input but the car seat is not installed improperly. it is reclined at the proper angle and is extremely tight. my hubby 's best friend is a firefighter.. and he checked my installation. :) it is a problem with the actual carseat... the problem is the same whether it is in the car or sitting on the ground. i apologize if you misunderstood my question...thumbs... quit going through and just giving everyone thumbs down in every question that you answer.. it is annoying...nothingconstant.... i think you may be the only person who understood the question :) (Read answers)
Why Does Everyone Say Britax Car Seats Are The Best?
All the ones i 've looked at only go to 33lbs. rear facing and max out at 40 lbs. for forward facing?sunshine kids radian xtsl goes to 45lbs. rear facing and 80 lbs. forward facing!!!!graco myride 65 is rear facing to 40lbs. ff to 65 lbs.and is a lot cheaper than the britax!so what makes britax so great?the weight limits that i listed are a safety issue to me because i want my son rear-facing as long as possible.as far as my understanding goes, all car seats have to meet the same safety requirements, so there is no safest car seat, other than having high weight limits to keep your child in the safest position - rear-facing - longer.... correct?either way.... even if you can forward face to 50 or 60 lbs in a britax, the graco myride and the sunshine kids both have higher rear-facing limits... which would make them better/ safer seats than the britax.... i would think anyway. Okay so i was planning on ordering my daughter a britax roundabout 50 car seat today from target. well i got on britax 's website and it says they are coming out with a new line that are supposed to be safer but not until mid august. we are planning a trip next weekend and i would like to go ahead and have her new car seat since she has grown out of her old one and it would make me feel better about the trip. so i guess what i 'm saying is should i go ahead and order her the britax roundabout 55 today so she can start using it asap or wait and her not have a new one for a month and not have it on the trip?also it only rf to 35 pounds which i was concered about, but i dont know of any other car seat that is as safe and that will fit in my small car. My husband and i have decided on getting my son a britax car seat. my daughter (20 month) has a graco nautilus, and it works great for her. my son is 21lbs and 28.5 inches (our infant car seat limit is 22 lbs and 29 in) so we need to get a new car seat stat! i 'm going out tomorrow.i drive a ford explorer, so size is not an issue. i have been looking at the britax new gen boulevard car seat (i think it just came out). its 300$. its 5-40lbs rear facing and 20-70 forward facing. is this a good choice? there really aren 't any reviews because it is new, but i like that it goes up to 40lbs on rear facing and 70 on forward. what britax car seat do you use? what would you recommend??
